Sadly, there is little in Australia to protect the elderly in their homes, or even in care homes.
The elderly, like the disabled, are throw-aways.

This poster is from Alabama in the United States, one of the poorest states. Yet there is an elder abuse hotline, and abuse of the elderly is a felony.
In Australia, abuse of the elderly or disabled is a civil matter. It is not even crime. For the most part, such matters are just covered up with half-hearted and unsuccessful attempts to prosecute charges that must be cobbled together.
