A Proposed Change to the Law
Based on that reasoning, it is no longer illegal to commit adultery in most Australian states. (I haven't researched this, but it sounds right. There may still be laws still on the books somewhere against adultery that are not being enforced by the courts and police.
There is a law against abuse in Australia. But it does not reflect the realities of the society and the attitudes of the society towards abuse.
If the law were to be properly written, it would not prohibit abuse. -- It would prohibit a man from being accused of being abused.
And, likewise in the same vein of thought, it would prohibit a man from accusing anyone of abusing him.
In both instances, the punishment would range from the man being prohibited to contact his children without strict supervision.
And, whether there are children involved or not, that he would fined all of his possessions and home
There may be an additional fine to be assessed over the life of his children, which would be means tested.
These changes would far more accurately reflect the attitudes of Australian society towards the subject of abuse in relationships.
I propose that Parliament implement these changes to the law as soon as possible.

This proposed change is, of course, a tongue in cheek parody.
There is some legal basis for it though. At least under such laws, the man could be convicted of something -- even if it is being accused of abuse! -- before his civil and human rights are disposed of.
Even such obviously unfair and prejudiced laws would be more "legal", if you will.
